Power Flushing in Wigan

The most effective way to restore your central heating system's efficiency.

What Is Power Flushing?

Power flushing is the most efficient and effective method of cleansing a central heating system. The principle is to create a powerful fresh water flow under controlled conditions to remove debris from the system.

By connecting a power flushing unit to the heating circuit in place of the system pump, boiler or radiator, the circuit can be thoroughly cleansed of limescale and corrosion debris. It uses water and cleaning agents at high velocity but low pressure, so no physical damage is caused to the system.

The Problem & The Solution

The Problem

Central heating systems corrode internally when air is present in the system, producing black iron oxide sludge deposits in radiators. These particles stick to all surfaces, causing premature failure of pumps and valves, blocked boiler heat exchangers and hot water heating coils, and cold, unbalanceable radiators. Overall system efficiency is greatly reduced and fuel is wasted.

The Solution

Power flushing creates a powerful fresh water flow to dislodge and remove all sludge, rust and limescale deposits from your system. Once complete, an inhibitor chemical is added to protect against future corrosion and scale build-up, keeping your system running efficiently for years to come.

Signs Your System Needs a Power Flush

In hard water areas, old systems will have accumulated limescale and corrosion deposits which can reduce boiler efficiency by over 5%. If you're experiencing any of the following, your system may benefit from a power flush.

Radiators cold at the bottom
Radiators slow to heat up
Noisy boiler or pipework
Discoloured water when bleeding
Some radiators won't heat at all
Boiler keeps cutting out
System slow to warm up
Frequent boiler breakdowns

Important: New Boiler Installations

When installing new boilers into old central heating systems, it is important that all sludge is first removed from the system, as it could accumulate in the new boiler and lead to premature failure.

All new systems should be pre-commission cleansed in accordance with BS:7593 and Benchmark. This ensures flux residues, excess jointing compounds, mineral oil and other contaminants are removed before the system is put into service.

Power Flushing Before a New Boiler

We strongly recommend a power flush before fitting a new boiler. Installing a new boiler onto a dirty system can void the manufacturer's warranty and significantly reduce the lifespan of your new boiler.

A clean system ensures your new boiler works at peak performance from day one and protects your investment for years to come.

How We Power Flush Your System

The central heating pump is removed and the flushing unit connected between the pump valves. The unit has its own powerful pump which circulates water and cleaning chemicals through the system at high velocity. A power flush typically takes about a day from set-up to completion.

"Mr Welch came out quickly, weighed up the job, did a quotation and scheduled the work as soon as possible. The two lads were great and the house was left neat and tidy. Would recommend without hesitation."
