Air Conditioning Installation in Wigan
Energy efficient climate control systems for homes and businesses across the North West.
Energy Efficient Climate Control Systems
Modern heat pump systems offer low carbon, energy efficient heating, with energy being extracted from the external environment to heat a building — even when it is extremely cold outside.
F.G. Welch are specialists in air source heat pump systems. These extract energy from the air, condense it, and use it to provide low carbon, energy efficient heating with very low running costs, as most of the heat energy is provided free of charge from the atmosphere. We currently offer two types of air source heat pump: air to air systems and air to water systems.
Two Types of Heat Pump System
We install both air to air and air to water heat pump systems, each suited to different needs and properties.
Air to Air Heat Pumps
Often referred to as climate control air conditioning systems, air to air heat pumps offer energy efficient control of the environment within your home or workplace. They can heat, cool, clean and control the humidity of the air to create optimum comfort conditions for both people and equipment.
We also offer heat recovery ventilation systems to complement our heat pump climate control installations.
Air to Water Heat Pumps
Also known as heat pump boilers, air to water heat pumps offer energy efficient heating as a low energy alternative to conventional fossil fuel burning boilers. They absorb heat from the outdoor air and use it to heat water, which is then circulated through your radiators or underfloor heating system.
Some models also offer cooling capability, and they can provide domestic hot water for your home.
Cost Savings & Incentives
As air source heat pumps offer such energy efficient heating, the Government offers financial incentives to people adopting this technology. Incentives include reduced VAT on heat pump installations in residential accommodation, tax incentives and interest free loans for businesses.
Together with the potential for significant savings — typically between 30% and 50% on your heating bills — heat pump systems are an extremely attractive investment for your home or workplace.

Environmentally Friendly Heating
Air source heat pumps are classified as a renewable energy technology because they extract heat from a renewable source — the air around us. They are also a low carbon technology, which can work in conjunction with other low carbon solutions such as underfloor heating and solar heating panels.
Some energy companies now offer renewable energy or green tariffs which, when used in conjunction with a heat pump, will reduce your carbon footprint even further.
Reserves of conventional fossil fuels are finite and emissions of carbon dioxide add increasingly to the effects of climate change. As a low carbon technology, heat pumps can significantly reduce the UK's carbon dioxide emissions.
Why Choose a Heat Pump System?
Heating & Cooling
Air to air systems provide both heating in winter and cooling in summer from a single unit.
Lower Running Costs
Heat pumps generate several units of heat for every unit of electricity used, making them highly efficient.
Renewable Energy
Classified as a renewable technology — extract free heat energy from the air around us.
Reduced Carbon Footprint
Significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to traditional gas or oil heating systems.
Government Incentives
Take advantage of reduced VAT rates and other financial incentives for heat pump installations.
Works in Cold Weather
Modern heat pumps continue to extract heat from the air even when outdoor temperatures are very low.
"The service is always five star, you can rely on Frank and his team to provide a reliable and prompt service whether the work is emergency or scheduled. We can highly recommend F G Welch."
